MUSIC - Year 8

Students in Year 8 studied World Music, Musicals and Australian Music this year. They examined works from around the world, learning about the different kinds of instruments that countries developed to make each of their music unique, whilst still sharing common musical characteristics. Students examined music from musicals, from their very beginnings in the 1920s right through till musicals of the past few decades. And finally, students have been looking at music, both Art and Popular Music of Australia, examining the ARIA charts as well as music written for the purpose of telling a story or painting a picture for the listener through the way they manipulate the concepts of music to construct the particular sound. The students enjoyed attempting to use a vareity of instruments this year including keyboard, drums, guitar and ukelele.
