MUSIC

Music this year had many challenges with the stint of Off-Campus Learning, as well as the difficulty of maintaining a safe environment for the students to share in individual and group experiences within our classrooms. The students were exposed to a variety of learning experiences in the three main areas of study, including Listening, Composing and Performing. Thanks to the technology we have available, students were still able to experience a variety of music through Canvas and Zoom lessons, but were given the challenge to continue to participate in the performing aspect of the course whilst at home. Many students thrived in this area, even though they had little experience on an instrument. I am very proud of the students in all classes, both mandatory and elective. We have some truly exceptional musicians at WAC and 2020 certainly demonstrated this. We look forward to more of the same standard next year.
