2020 has been a very interesting year for Visual Arts students and teachers alike. Art practice has been adapted and reinvented, with the home space being transformed into the art studio in Semester 1. Students were resourceful, imaginative and ingenious in the way that they discovered and salvaged various materials from around their houses to make artworks. They were inspired by their world and have made artworks that are insightful, playful and responsive to their context.
In Semester 2, we were happy to welcome our students back into the art room, resuming our regular class activities in person. It was wonderful to engage in the social and communal aspects of Visual Arts, which were sorely missed while students were working off-campus. We have seen our students' skills continue to flourish during this time.
Although it has been a challenging year in many ways, our Visual Arts students have demonstrated discipline and resilience. They have continued to learn and refine their artmaking practice with admirable determination. We are very proud of their efforts this year.
