Artist Statement:

To know yourself is to understand that you will change, and to paint is to capture what will change and ensnare it. Clouds are pushed and distorted constantly by invisible but powerful wind, eyes change colour and humans, though we don’t often like to admit it, are forever in a state of constant fluctuation. This artwork is a series of moments frozen in time, however the acrylic medium and surreal elements separate it from that of a photograph.
When a self portrait is painted the quality of the work no longer lies within the subjective beauty of the artist but in artistry, self expression and in the conceptual framework.
This artwork invites the audience to engage with their subconscious and acknowledge the way in which their individual lives are subject to the ongoing winds of change.
