College Strings

What a fortunate time to be a string player. Although impacted earlier in the year, and needing to rehearse in smaller groups, we were lucky to be able to continue playing together. The initial expectation of many performance opportunities dwindled as our usual commitments were cancelled one by one, but the dedication of the students showed (even as we had to divide into two groups rehearsing fortnightly) as they still came and rehearsed new pieces in the hope that if something came up they’d be ready. The ensemble were fortunate to be able to play at the farewell assembly for Dr. Quarmby at the end of Term 2, and part of the ensemble were privileged to be able to play at his farewell dinner held at the Wests Leagues Club in November. We also got to record something for Presentation Evenings. Farewell to our Year 12 students Iulitta Ng and Nicholas Jefferys. We thank them for their beautiful playing and for their many years of dedication and commitment to the ensemble.
